Dashi dreaming...

The east coast is dead flat this morning. This is the only cam shot working. I know Tobes is going out to Jinshan this morning, so maybe he could give you a report...

All cameras still down. This is a still from the Dashi camera...I think it is current, the time stamp is wrong. Anyway, the most optimistic surfer probably should stay home today...yesterday was supposed to be better than today and...(see yesterday's report)

Rain and slush

Slushy one footers vied with pouring rain to be the most objectionable part of our Friday afternoon trip.
I think it was a draw in the end... Ross and Dave were not amused!

Thursday report

Went out Thursday after school for a surf at the activity center. Overcast, no rain, very low tide. 1-2 foot with slight off shore. Middle peak was working for both lefts and rights. Far breaker looked to have a left going, but I was too lazy to walk that far. Not an epic day, but very fun and had it all to myself.
Tobes

We're thinking of going out today at 2.30....you're always welcome. (Dave)

Sad

Surf is pretty sad at the moment, although we don't know for sure as both cams are down again.
These newlyweds were nearly as excited as Ross (lurking out the back) to see a few little waves on Sunday afternoon.

Late decision

Ross waits on a bigger one...

Taking off..

A late decision to go over seemed a poor one at first. Loads of traffic and just a few dribblers greeted Ross and Dave. It picked up after a while and the boys got a few beauties. Dave has finally fixed his fish and declared it to be just what was needed out there.

Silly Comparison

I try to stop myself, but I can't help it. After checking Jinshan's cam, I decided to look at the Merewether stills from this morning. Oh, I'm very silly!

Sunday morning

Gone onshore, looks like it has picked up a touch. A few warriors interested in a messy break off the car park at Jinshan

Saturday morning conditions...

It was actually great fun! Tiny little waves, strong offshore spray back, clear cool water and full sunshine the original 3 had fun trying to stay on waves, body-boarding some and talking loads of rubbish. Dan and Nicky and Zef turned up just when they were about to leave, so they left it to the style master on his plank!

Despite this, Carl, Dave and Ross are heading over...wish us luck!

Thanks to Tobes for these latest gems.... These surfing terms are taken from "The Surfin’ary" by Trevor Cralle

Bellringer!

Occy's slashing bottom turns, Parko's lip bashing acrobatics and Slater's spray fountain cutbacks showed us all what pro surfing is all about this week at Bells. Many of the Pointyhat boys have been glued to the webcast: Slater took top honours and rang the bell after a masterful display.
Also, someone has found a new psycho mystery spot somewhere in Australia. Check some mentals here.

I've missed Captain Goodvibes since I was in high school.
Now Johnsy has revived my interest in that legend Gonad Man. Here's a taste: check out more here.

Stuck Hard

A strange sculpture in the Jinshan carpark.

Was it erected by aliens? Is it wood? If stone, does it cut diamonds? Does the large ball in the foreground represent the crown jewels?

Comments.....?

Surfing the Derwent in Tassie

Believe it or not, these boys are surfing in a river. A massive southerly swell hit Tassie this morning providing rare fun for just a few surfers.

Screaming white caps

Carl, Steve and Sean report a screaming S Easter obliterating any remaining swell at the activity centre this afternoon and generating little white caps out to sea. Looks like we might have enjoyed our last little flush of swell for a while as temps finally begin to climb. Might have to dust off those big planks.....

Very small. OK at first, no wind, very pleasant. Got a few shooters through to the rocks down the far end but after an hour or so the onshore arched up. Got changed to go back in the usual driving rain, howling wind: I love surfing in Taiwan!

Ross waits on a rideable one...
