Holy Powersurfboard Batman!

Craig spied this hot little unit at the bike show on the weekend. 3HP of grunt.... Don't tell me you don't want to have a go on this! Maybe some of our members who love their toys will investigate further.....

Scaring the fish away...

One of the fishermen on the rock wall at Pointies has sent me this photograph. Apparently, some fellow on an extremely large paddle style board was scaring the fish away yesterday. The Coast Guard are also on the lookout for the paddler, whose board bore an uncanny resemblance to the Queen Mary.

Ride that pipe!

New video link here to Quiksilver's boardrider TV, which is their in-store video channel: some pretty cool videos here if you catch it at the right time. I'll place a link under "Our Videos" as well. Billabong's re-vamped site is also oozing with quality videos. Check it out: follow the links. See how much of that internet pipe you can use!

Weekend tales

Craig took these shots at Green Bay and Rocket on Friday afternoon. He reported tough conditions everywhere except a 2 foot slushy at nth end of Green Bay. Craig and Josh took the skis out at sparrow's fart on Saturday, only to find similarly wild and wooly conditions. Dan ventured across on Sunday to find much the same until.....he headed to "Green Ball", which we have previously referred to here as "Restaurants", on the rocky reef just around from Baishawan. He got out and mixed it up with a keen crew of local boys, and the waves were big fast and hollow. Need to hit it at two hours before and after high tide apparently.

Saturday sequences

Carl and Johnsy both got some nice waves on the weekend... (photos by Josh)

Surely not!

Study the 2 photos above carefully: the rider in the foam ball heading left has the inside position (Carl). An unidentified fellow on a yellow-orange mal , seemingly, has dropped in and veered.
Is this a lapse in etiquette? An accident? Stay tuned! (photos by Josh)

Just rollin' in...

Rocket wasn't at its very best this morning, but Tobes Carl Josh Craig and Dave got a few. Johnnsy was getting wave after wave on the paddleboard and Tobes got quite a few on the mini mal. The short boarders were struggling a bit! Dave took some of these from the rock wall: Josh took a few shots below the Pointy temple as well which we might see here soon...
Get ready for Newcastle's own "Surfest" from Merewether: check the site here and the live video action from Monday 12th.

Land of the long white barrel

Johnsy enjoyed some excellent conditions back home recently. Homesick? (photos: aquaboy)

Pizza eating watermen

Tobes reports from Sunday..."Pointys was flat yesterday so went to the Rocket. It appears that we had about the same kind of day as you did on Saturday. Nice, gentle 1-2 foot, but way too many guys in the line-up. At about 11:00 the Rocket went flat, so Vicars, Johns, and I went into Jin Shan to Penry’s Pizza Parlor, grabbed a few pizzas and then went to Jin Shan main beach to watch the surf and chow some food. I was very surprised to see that Jin Shan had two really nice peaks still working. It was great to hang out on the wall, eat pizza, and watch the mayhem out in the water."

Josh Cartier Bresson

Josh pulled out the big SLR and got some close-up shots on Saturday: photos are great, shame about the talent of the surfers and the size of the waves!

Keep an eye out soon for some shots Johnsy took in NZ last week...very cool, will post soon.

Dan's Friday Point work

Dan reports "....a nice take off with a teasing wall then fatting out into a mush burger with the next section of the wave reeling along the inside point. Most waves weren't connecting to the inside that evening, however a group of fizzing local boys said that it was working all the way through earlier that day." (photos by Nicky)

Low Octane Rocket

Carl, Josh and Dave were in the water at 8 a.m. but still couldn't beat the boys out there. They managed to get a few boppers out the back and then got some fast shooters on the bank as the crowd built. You can see that the water and the crowd filled right up by the time they left! Dan got some bigger waves yesterday at the point: I wonder if he was pulling any moves like these...spectacular stuff from the Quiksilver Pro.
