Typhoon aftermath

This is, of course Shipstern's Bluff, not Taiwan, but back to that later.

Dan and Simon both got amongst the waves at Green Ball in a dying typhoon swell, but were joined by a whole phalanx of other surfers. The water was pushing across the reef at an unusual angle, conditions not at their optimum. Many longboarders meant a few different takeoff zones, and not all the guys were able to move in and out of the waves skilfully, meaning some pretty heavy congestion. All the other spots around seemed pretty much blown, except perhaps for southern Wushi gang.

Picture is of some of the heaviest waves ever at the other end of the world. Thanks to Pointyhat official photographer, Lewy, for bringing these to our attention. Here's the link.

Possibilities...

Looks like Saturday (or Sunday as it calms) if you can sneak past the coast guard.

Calm

Pretty, but reverted to type just in time for the weekend!

Also, I watched a few heats of the Billabong Pro in Rio last night, including Martinez beating Slater. Good coverage as always. Check it here.

Retro action...Oct '09

Just a reminder that the swell does and will return. Dan in action on Dave and Dan's big day at Nanas in Oct '09.

This was the set, a bit full and sloppy, but a little swell nonetheless: hallelujah!
