Untidy at lowish tide.

There are a couple of guys out in the middle of the beach, not getting much at this stage.

"Jagshemash!"

International man of the moment, Borat, was spotted down at Jinshan number 2 on the weekend. What a stylemaster!

Big Wave Bay: Coomba checks in

Peter checks in from Big Wave Bay, Hong Kong. He took these snaps when down at the bay on the weekend and reports that he can leave his board in a storage shed at the beach, instead of lugging it on the bus. Although it looks like a bad day at Jinshan, Coomba reports that the waves do get bigger. Keep on surfin'!

Is the Wedge back?!

boomer rights out from the point then...
dropped onto the bank

Dave had the activity centre all to himself this morning and sat way off the end of the point to pick up rollicking rights which peeled off then dropped onto the inner bank. It was almost the Wedge back....every now and then a perfect peak threw up from nowhere and the left was on offer as well. 2 1/2 hours later, still no-one out, too tired, dragged himself home.

bit scrappy, but something there. The cam from Dashi shows a lake, so the northern tip is the only place.

Croc surfing!!

A tribute to the late great Steve Irwin was held at Shipstern's Bluff yesterday. To get a better idea of the lunacy, you must check this video. Madness!

Don't mess with the Master

don't mess!

Luckily when the master was rudely accosted on Sunday he recognised his two little grasshoppers (by their hats, I think)....otherwise, woofter, the machete would have been a blurring wheel of steel in the master's hand

In the blink of an eye......

Goooone!

Our Master: who art at Pillbox

our esteemed leader
new blue steel!
familiar pillbox peak

After years of searching for our Master, we found him today at a windswept Pillbox. The surf was passable, great peaks shifting out to sea and a super strong current. All Hail to our esteemed leader, Grand Pointy the Wizened One!

typhoon whip

Shalun Storm

dave not overly impressed!
lonely beach

Josh and Dave tried the Pillbox: great storm lines marched almost straight up the coast, the current looked fierce, the surf turbulent. Shalun beach was slightly sheltered. Both lads got a few waves before succumbing from tired arms: paddling against typhoon onshore and current.

Jinshan appears blown out (see picture above), but perhaps the Pillbox needs a first visit this season? Got to take advantage of this blow somehow!

Surfin' the Storm

Quick afternoon dash for Josh and Wally found some storm surging slammers at Jinshan 2. The swell built after these photos...Josh lost a fin, but caught some beauties before that. Wally swallowed about 2 litres of that crystal clear water out beside the nuke power plant.

Mr. Green

Mr. Green

Who is this?
a. A reject from "Reservoir Dogs"?
b. A rabid environmentalist?
c. Some kiwi bludger pretending that he's working hard in his new business?

Answer tomorrow!

One year on...

Johnsy reckoned the surf wasn't that good yesterday: maybe he was just trying to make me feel better.
Do you get the feeling, like me, that the surf is not as good as it was this time last year? Check this out and this and this and ponder.... all from the first week in September last year.

Hmmmm

Merewether serves up the goods back in Oz this morning......

Tobes got some action yesterday afternoon and guys were evn slotting into little barrels down by the far breakwater at Jinshan: we haven't seen that sort of quality for a loooong time.

Big Gazza is doing some "lifeguard training" this arvo: good work if you can get it!

Forcing the Issue

turning tight
little right
forcing the issue

Dave found some nice little lefts and rights at Jinshan 2 but really had to force the issue on his short board; dancing, slapping, turning just to stay on the wave...not too bad.

Baishawan beats 'em all

take off
gary
greg

Well I don't know what's going on...round the corner is supposed to be smaller isn't it??
Gary and Greg and family got a few nice little ones this morning...I give up on this surf forecasting!

Limited Possibilities

possible

Two shots this morning show some limited possibilities. The kiddies might get a few littlies or the big planks. Trying to be upbeat here, but personally, I'm passing. Wouldn't mind being back in merewether today though...
