Doesn't look like much swell for the weekend, but the trucks and diggers are still hard at it cleaning up this shocker. Probably best to avoid anywhere connected to the 3 this weekend, and that includes the 5 freeway over to Ilan. Good luck, take care.

Landslide

Freeway 3 between Taipei and Keelung has had a major landslide on Sunday arvo, a time when many of us could well have been travelling home from a surf at Green Bay, Fulong etc. Here's more news, let's hope not many were hurt....

Danenstein!

A new monster emerged from the ocean at Pointies this morning...Danenstein! After a morning surfing nice glassy, playful waves, Dan went through a metamorphosis. It went: board tail on face, smashed board, hospital, seven stitches in head, home to recuperate

Greenies!

Andrew, Dan and Dave got some smooth faced 2-3 footers at Green Ball at first light today, but still couldn't beat the 7 guys already out! Not to worry, everyone got some nice waves, making it through the various sections and the bowl on occasions. Dan gets a last wave here.

Nanas is not always cranking!

Top to bottom: Nanas, Suas, Wushi harbour and the Taj. I was kinda stoked to see Nanas pretty much dead flat as the other three times either Dan or I had been here, it was cranking! Maybe I haven't been missing epic surfs here after all!
Suas had a pretty wave but fairly weak, Wushi Gang was the biggest but way packed....crazy on a Monday afternoon!? The Taj kept Dave entertained for a good session and it was sweet surfing on a work day that's for sure.

NZ and Brazil Nuts!

This is a break that you can only get to by boat.  Andrew's brother was out there and some Brazilian douche bags turned up in a boat and dropped anchor right in the break. They got hit by two waves before the anchor broke away.  You can see them jumping ship in the photo above. (These waves looked so fantastic I've put them in a slide show here...Dave)

Rip Curl Pro: swell, air and dirty windows

The Pro is on, very little swell, but there is some amazing surfing going on. Today saw one of the most amazing combined turns/airs/tail slides you'll ever see (go to heat 15) from the curiously named Dusty Payne. Another video from earlier this year is embedded above.

Big Shawn Busts Out at Dashi

Pointyhat Shawn (and his son) don't often grace the shores of the northern or eastern beaches, but he did alright a couple of days ago. Far from "getting beat up", both guys had lots of fun.

Many of the heats were amazing and the quarters were great, but this quarter final action between Parko and Dane Reynolds has to be seen to be believed.
